I have found one of the best articles on Sorato ever!! I shall leave  afew quotes from it

“Yamato very obviously did NOT steal Sora away from Taichi – Sora and Taichi had NOTHING together (except friendship). That’s why in episode 48, Koushiro asks Yamato about whether he’s worried about Taichi and Sora spying together (read: that Taichi will steal Sora away from him). This conversation wouldn’t take place if Yamato indeed “stole” Sora away from Taichi. Why? Deduction. There is a “code” in friendship where you don’t go for your friend’s girl; the fact that Koushiro is speaking about it with Yamato means that Yamato got to Sora “first” (and Yamato is obviously oblivious to the fact that Taichi likes Sora, as is Sora herself …) – otherwise if Taichi had gotten to Sora “first”, the conversation would occur with Taichi, not Yamato. Oh, and Koushiro most likely brought it up because Yamato and Sora are now dating, so he’s basically asking if Yamato trusts Sora with any other guy (or in this case Taichi, given their history of friendship).

Oh, and a lot of people say that Sorato just “popped out” of nowhere. No. People have to remember that season 02 was focussed on the 02 cast – not the 01 cast. Of course you weren’t going to see how much Yamato and Sora interacted before the Christmas scene. But I find it very realistic, from the basis and foundation of understanding each other in season 01, that Yamato and Sora could have progressed and furthered their relationship into something romantic by the time they were fourteen. Unlike eleven, it’s a good age for relationships to start… ” link:

Good points! Especially the last paragraph. Season 2 happened 2 1/2 (or 4, if you’re watching the dub) years after season 1. And since the older kids became secondary characters that only showed up when their help was needed, then there was a lot of time for Sora and Yamato’s relationship to evolve and grow behind the scenes. Longer than their original time in the digital world. It only seemed to appear “out of nowhere” because the focus of the show was on the new team, not them. And they had more important things to think about (Ken, Arukenimon/Mummymon, Oikawa and the Dark Seed children) than the romances developing between the older kids.

Which sounds unfair. How much did they like her in the first place if their stock in her character diminished simply because of her romantic choices? She’s still the same person she’s been since the very beginning.
